
Supervisory Skills in Advanced Manufacturing is a self-guided micro-credential tailored for supervisors or those wanting to enter leadership and team management roles or are new to leadership within Ontario’s advanced manufacturing sector. Participants will be equipped with tools and strategies to motivate their teams, foster effective communication, and implement continuous improvement within their organizations. In today’s advanced manufacturing industry, strong supervisory skills are essential for driving productivity, fostering collaboration, ensuring quality, and maintaining a competitive edge.
Program Information
By the end of this micro-credential, you will:
- Develop effective communication skills, including delegation, motivation and coaching employees
- Identify legal and ethical challenges facing supervisors in advanced manufacturing
- Apply creative thinking, analytical thinking and other problem-solving methods to advanced manufacturing problems
- Develop effective team building skills
- Apply quality management and continuous improvement techniques in advanced manufacturing
- Manufacturing supervisors who have been recently promoted
- Leaders and mid-level managers in manufacturing who have not had formal training
- Leaders who have responsibility for influencing or leading others to achieve goals in a manufacturing environment

Prerequisites
- General computer and technology use abilities.
Technology Requirements
- Laptop: Windows 10 or higher or equivalent operating system with recommended 8GB of RAM and at least 16 GB of free hard disk space and Wi-Fi capabilities.
- Access to reliable high-speed broadband internet access (Cable, DSL, LTE) with a minimum bandwidth of 15 Mbps is recommended.
Laptop must include integrated webcam and microphone.
To successfully complete your program, you will complete all components of the program. Your progress will be continuously evaluated using a variety of formative and/or summative assessments to receive a final mark. Information about these assessment methods will be provided in the Learning Management System on the first day of the program.
