Introduction to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB)

Introduction to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging

This session provides an overview of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging in the evolving global and Canadian contexts. Its goal is to increase comfort with current terminology, provide the ‘why’ behind legislation and media headlines and inspire you to expand your awareness so you can positively impact the environment and communities of which you are a part.

This session will provide a starting point for those interested in further exploration of EDIB and its evolution within social, economic and professional contexts. It addresses foundational concepts such as equal opportunity, bias, power, privilege and broader movements including anti-racism, de-colonization and reconciliation, 2S&LGBTQ+ and accessibility. The goal is for participants to become more confident with current terminology, available resources and practical ways to further their learning in order to move to action. We suggest taking this or a similar foundational program if you are considering additional programs in Brock’s EDIB suite of offerings.
