Indigenous Plus is a four-year co-curricular program for Indigenous students (identifying as First Nations, Métis or Inuit). Utilizing the Medicine Wheel Framework, this program focuses on cultural insights, connection, community, and career readiness. With a student-centered approach, Indigenous Plus aims to enhance identity and building a personal career path.
Developed by Co-op, Career & Experiential Education, in partnership with Hadiya’dagénhahs First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Centre, the Office of the Vice Provost, Indigenous Engagement, community professionals, and with support from Scotiabank. This program will provide you with opportunities to build necessary skills, nurture cultural growth, and gain a competitive edge when applying to jobs or post-graduate education
Indigenous students have access to unique opportunities. These include:
- Learning from community Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Program and cultural advising
- Skill development workshops
- Job shadowing opportunities
- Observational visits
- Community engagement
- Mentorship

Indigenous Plus FAQ's
This program is open to all current and incoming Brock University students who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit.
You do not require status, citizenship, etc. to enroll in Indigenous Plus. When you attend Brock, you can fill out the self-identification information in your Brock portal.
Yes. This program provides learning opportunities to connect with culture and community. We recognize that not all Indigenous students had access to their culture, and we would like to aid in this connection. Indigenous Plus is a person-centered program. Therefore, if there are cultural goals you have, we can guide you to try and help achieve them.
The application for this program is located on our website from January-September.
Yes. One of the most beneficial resources for Indigenous students is Hadiya’dagénhahs First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Centre (located in the main food area called Market Hall – TH 145).
