With over 10 years of experience working at Brock University, I view my role as an opportunity to provide students with the tools and information they need to succeed on their terms. Through a holistic lens while embodying the BSSC’s core values of Allyship, Community & Cultural Pride, Engagement, and Growth, I believe in serving our community in a way that is unmatched. I am passionate about making students feel heard while also celebrating victories and accomplishments along the way. Through strategic partnerships within the university and into the community, ensuring the needs of students are met is my top priority.

Dawn Kakiroko – Wellness Navigator, Black Student Success Centre

I am one of 4 Wellness Navigators at Brock University.
We offer compassionate, non-judgmental, holistic, culturally responsive 1:1 support by helping students identify and overcome barriers they may experience through connecting to resources and supports they need to thrive at Brock.
Part of my role also includes helping students build empowerment and advocacy skills, along with helping to build new strategies to support well-being aligned with the student’s personal and mental health goals. Its all about meeting you where you are at and helping you along your journey as a student at Brock.
If you’re a staff or faculty member, I am here to help brainstorm ways a Wellness Navigator could engage with students or to share specific strategies for ways you can support individual and campus wellbeing!

Please feel free to book an In-person or Virtual appointment with me.

Tassia GabbidonTassia Gabbidon – Intake & Support Counsellor

I’m a licensed Psychotherapist, RP-Q, and my journey into this field began with a strong foundation in Sociology, eventually leading to a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. My unique life experiences have played a significant role in shaping my work, allowing me to offer personalized and culturally sensitive support for students. My guiding principles involve a commitment to anti-oppressive values and an intersectional approach. My primary goal is to cultivate a warm and inclusive space where students can explore and embrace their authentic selves, discover healing, regain focus, and acquire coping strategies that have the potential to transform their lives.
