Olympic Way

Olympic Way:

The Brock Niagara Aquatics ‘Olympic Way’ program is our grassroots program where we welcome young swimmers to learn the fundamentals of competitive swimming. The Olympic Way program is led by a team of coaches comprised of Brock University students and older Brock Niagara Aquatics swimmers who in their own way are beginning their journey into coaching.

‘Olympic Way’ swimmers swim twice per week in 8-10 week sessions throughout the school year; new sessions begin in September, January, and Spring.

The pre-requisite for joining ‘Olympic Way’ is LSS Swimmer 5 (or equivalent). The associated skills we are looking for is the ability to swim continuously for at least 25m in deep water and possess the fundamentals of front crawl (freestyle), back crawl (backstroke), and whip kick to help learn breaststroke.

‘Olympic Way’ swimmers normally spend up to one year in ‘Olympic Way’. A swimmer’s readiness to move on to the next level depends upon age, experience, and desire to do more. After completing one or more sessions of ‘Olympic Way’, graduates of this program may move into a full-year competitive training group.

When it is time for your swimmer to move on to the competitive program our office will be in touch with your family. If you have any questions about your swimmer’s readiness to move on to the competitive program we encourage you to message our office brockswimming@brocku.ca
