Health and Physical Education (MA)

The MA in Health and Physical Education is a flexible, research-focused program that allows students to explore their passion for health, wellness, and physical activity. With mentorship, students investigate topics such as health education, physical activity advocacy, policy development, and health promotion. The program combines strong theoretical foundations with hands-on methodological training, preparing graduates for doctoral studies or impactful careers in education, community health, health promotion, and wellness.

  • Thesis – 6 terms (2 years)

Admission requirements

  • Check the university requirements and the program requirements. 
  • Complete the online application and submit the non-refundable application fee. 
  • A four-year Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, from an accredited institution in a related discipline (for example, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise or Sport Science, Human Kinetics), with an average of not less than 75% over the last two years of full-time undergraduate study. 
  • You will need to submit your transcripts as well as the following program-specific materials:
    • Two references (academic preferred)
    • A statement of intent - a free-form letter or essay of no more than two pages, in which applicants indicate their career aspirations/plans, specific research interests, and experience relevant to the program
  • Prospective students are required to make personal contact with potential supervisors and make note of this in the application process.
