Athletic Therapy (MAT)

Prepare to become a leader in the athletic therapy field with our MAT program. Our comprehensive curriculum uses the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA) Competency Framework to combine academic learning with hands-on clinical experience, fostering problem-solving and ethical practice to prepare students to challenge the CATA National Certification Examination. Provisionally accredited by CATA, we emphasize inclusive and evidence-based strategies, equipping you to excel in diverse athletic therapy-focused clinical environments.

  • The first intake of this program is planned for May 2026

Duration:

  • 6 terms (2 years)

Pathway:

  • Professional program with a Major Research Project (MRP) component and practicum experience

Admission requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Exercise Science or equivalent
  • A minimum B average in the following prerequisites: Human Anatomy (with lab), Human Physiology (with lab), Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Nutrition, Psychology, and Motor Control/Learning

You will need to submit your transcripts as well as the following program-specific materials:

    • Two references (at least one academic) are required.
    • A statement of intent, no more than one page in length, outlining the rationale for applying to the program;
    • An up-to-date CV/resume.
