Decolonization Working Group

Chair:

  • Dr. Lyn TrudeauAssistant Professor, Centre for Women’s and Gender Studies & Department of Sociology

Purpose

The Decolonization Working Group seeks to challenge and reframe narratives of the Indigenous populace. Colonialism and its ripple effects are still present and experienced today; decolonization requires all of us to question – Whose historical viewpoint and epistemic belief systems are being upheld? and Why?

CURRENT PRIORITIES (2025-2026)

  • Respond to and counter residential school denialism on campus.
  • Increase the visibility of Indigenous peoples and cultures at Brock through art and representation.
  • Support education on the criminalization of Indigenous peoples.
  • Build alliances between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in equity and justice work.
