Keynote Speaker

Emily Bagshaw

Emily Bagshaw is the student advisor/recruiter at Brock University’s Hadiyaˀdagénhahs First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Centre, in which she employs her professional, academic, and personal experiences to support Indigenous and non-Indigenous students throughout their journeys at Brock. Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts, Honours in Sociology and a Master of Arts in Social Justice and Equity Studies, both from Brock University. Her master’s research and thesis investigate the impacts of settler colonialism in Canadian law.

After 9 years as a student and academic, she is now putting her learning into practice by supporting others through their academic journeys. In her free time, Emily enjoys reading, writing, hiking, finger-weaving, drumming, and spending time with friends. Originally from Saskatchewan, she also frequently travels home to spend time with family. Overall, Emily is passionate about supporting and uplifting others while working toward decolonization and equity within the university.
