Brock University’s Student Exchange Program enables Brock students to enhance their degrees with international experience at one of Brock’s exchange partner institutions. Gain new perspectives and in-demand skills through global academic experiences and cultural immersion, boosting your employability after graduation.
An exchange allows undergraduate students to study worldwide at one of our partner institutions while staying enrolled at Brock. Your standard tuition fees are still paid to Brock with no additional tuition fees paid to the host institution, and the courses you study there count for credit in place of your semester(s) here. By applying for an exchange you are automatically considered for a Brock University International Mobility Award to help pay for your experience.
How it Works
1.
Speak to your academic advisor.
Start by speaking with your academic advisor to see if an exchange would work with your program.
2.
Speak to the exchange team at Brock International.
Brock International’s international learning team will help you determine the best time to go and the best locations based on your program and needs.
3.
Research where you want to go.
Learn about our exchange partner institutions and see what the best fit might be for you. Be sure to check the Placement Chances Guide to understand chances of placement and how to build your application. Choose your top three and apply.
4.
Document review.
The exchange team reviews your submitted application and documents. If they meet requirements, Brock International will schedule an interview with you. The interview is typically held in person on campus.
5.
Acceptance and placement.
If accepted, you will receive an offer with your placement. Placement is based on availability, academic fit, and competition.
6.
Accepting your offer from Brock International.
Once you accept your formal offer from the international learning team, you will sign paperwork and then be formally nominated by Brock International to your host institution.
7.
Nomination and acceptance.
After Brock International formally nominates you, the host university will contact you to fill out their application. Once the host university’s application requirements have been satisfied, they will extend you a formal offer to attend their institution. When you accept the offer, you can begin planning.
8.
Pre-departure preparation.
Students going on exchange must attend a mandatory pre-departure workshop to prepare for their upcoming exchange experience. Once you accept your formal offer from your host university, you can begin organizing for travel including flight, housing, courses, and visa requirements (if needed). Brock International can provide some guidance, but the host institution will provide support for these items.
