Sexual Violence Policy

Brock’s Sexual Violence Policy (SVP) outlines the process and procedures involved in responding to incidents of sexual violence. The policy applies to all members and visitors of Brock University, covering all forms of Sexual Violence that affect the university’s work and learning environment. Note that the incident does not need to have happened on campus or during your time at Brock for you to receive support and accommodations.

The purpose of the SVP is to:

  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment that is free of Sexual Violence;
  • Provide Survivors with a procedure to report incidents of Sexual Violence to the University;
  • Create a decision-making process that meets the requirements of procedural fairness and holds those who have committed Sexual Violence accountable; and,
  • Meet legal requirements under applicable laws and legislation.

Through the SVP Brock is committed to:

  • Protecting the safety of Brock Community Members and Visitors;
  • Building an environment where Survivors feel safe to disclose incidents of Sexual Violence and seek support;
  • Protecting Survivors’ right to dignity and respect;
  • Responding appropriately to disclosures of Sexual Violence;
  • Ensuring Procedures under this Policy meet the requirements of procedural fairness;
  • Providing support, services, and appropriate accommodation for Brock Community Members who are affected by Sexual Violence; and,
  • Providing training and education on Sexual Violence awareness, prevention, and response.

The SVP emphasizes that Brock unequivocally prohibits and will not condone, tolerate, or ignore any form of Sexual Violence. Learn more about the reporting options available under the SVP by consulting with our team, email us at svsec@brocku.ca.
