The Gender and Sexual Violence Support and Education Office is dedicated to providing support, education, and resources related to gender-based violence and sexual violence on campus.
The GSV office is committed to creating a safe and supportive campus environment. We focus on raising awareness, providing resources for survivors, promoting gender equality, and addressing harmful stereotypes. Our goal is to foster an inclusive culture of respect and consent while preventing and addressing gender and sexual violence!
The main objectives of our office are:
- Support for Survivors: Offering confidential support and resources to survivors of gender-based violence and sexual violence, including counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy.
- Prevention and Education: Organizing educational programs, workshops, and awareness campaigns to promote a culture of consent, respect, and understanding while challenging harmful behaviors and attitudes.
- Policy Development: Collaborating with university administration to develop and implement policies, protocols, and procedures to address gender and sexual violence on campus.
- Referrals: Providing information and referrals to other support services both on and off-campus for survivors seeking additional assistance.
- Training and Capacity Building: Offering training sessions to members of the Brock University community to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize, respond to, and prevent gender and sexual violence.
- Advocacy and Awareness: Advocating for systemic changes and raising awareness about gender-based violence and sexual violence within the university community.
