Village Residence Townhouse Court

Brock University’s Village Residence features clusters of townhouse units centered around communal courtyards. All units feature comfortable accommodations for up to five guests per unit, and include central air-conditioning and complimentary wireless internet access.

The residence’s communal courtyards feature passive outdoor space, complete with picnic tables, space for stretching and warming up, or a quiet place for team meetings.

Pay-per-use laundry facilities are available on the ground floor of nearby Lowenberger Residence.

Units are currently not accessible in accordance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA), 2005. Please communicate with your group’s accommodation coordinator at Brock University if a member of your team requires accessible accommodation.

Each athlete will be assigned their own single bed in the unit. A maximum of five individuals can be assigned to each unit.

Three of the unit’s bedrooms are single rooms. These are bedrooms with one single/twin bed only. Each unit’s fourth bedroom is a double room. The double bedroom has two single/twin beds that are arranged in either loft, or bunk configuration. This means that the athletes assigned to the double room may be required to climb a short ladder to get into and out of bed.

Every bedroom in every unit has a lockable door, with a unique room key, provided to every registered and assigned guest at check-in.

The following items are included with each bed inside the Village Residence Townhouse Units:

  • Clean bed linens
  • Clean pillow (1)
  • Bath towel (1)
  • Wash cloth (1)
  • Bar soap (1)
  • Cup for rinsing (1)
  • Room key (provided upon check-in at the Front Desk)

Brock University has self-serve laundry facilities within the residence buildings. Laundry services are available in Lowenberger, DeCew, Vallee, Earp and Residence 8.

Guests staying in Village Residence must contact the Front Desk and request to use the laundry facilities in nearby Lowenberger Residence.

Use of the laundry facilities requires you to purchase a laundry card at the Front Desk. Both the washing machines and dryers cost $1.75 CAD per use. A single-load wash and dry requires a laundry card with $3.50 loaded onto it. Higher dollar amounts are also available.

Laundry cards must be returned to the Accommodations Front Desk when empty or at checkout. Unused funds on the laundry card cannot be refunded. Lost or damaged cards are subject to a replacement fee of $5.00 CAD per card.

If you require laundry products, the Front Desk has detergent pods available for purchase. If you are unsure of the location of the laundry facilities, please ask Brock Conferences Services staff or at the Accommodations Front Desk.

Each unit has a communal area for the team to eat and visit together. This is a wonderful way to keep your visit with us economical and to provide healthy food options for your team.

Most units feature a full-size kitchen which includes a full-size fridge, stove, sink, counter  space, and cupboard space.

Newly-renovated units feature kitchenettes which include a full-size fridge, sink, counter  space, and cupboard space.

All units feature an eating area with table and chairs, as well as a small lounge area with a couch and chairs.

Brock University does not provide additional cooking equipment or kitchen supplies. Items such as pots, pans, cookware, dinnerware, glassware, cooking utensils and eating utensils are not provided by Brock University.

Please note: Brock University cannot guarantee availability of units with full-size kitchen upon booking. Please communicate with your group’s accommodation coordinator at Brock University to indicate a preference for a unit with a full-size kitchen for your stay on campus. Interior image of Village Residence communal area. Residence units are equipped with smoke detectors in the bedrooms and heat/carbon monoxide detectors in the hallways and mechanical areas. In the event of smoke or fire, the alarms will activate, and the Fire Department will automatically be notified.

What sets off detectors?

  • Smoking of any kind, including vaping and e-cigarettes.
  • Tampering with, removing, covering, or hitting the detectors.
  • Burning food.
  • Leaving appliances unattended while cooking.
  • Using ovens, toasters, and/or pans that have grease/food spills built up, causing smoke to release when heated.
  • Using personal hygiene devices or aerosol products near the devices (i.e perfume, cologne, steam from hair dryers or straighteners).

What do I do when alarms activate?

Residents are to evacuate the area of the alarm immediately (this may be the individual unit, a cluster of units, or an entire court) and meet with other guests from the affected area in the designated meeting place.

Campus Safety Services and the St. Catharines Fire Department will give the all-clear to notify when safe entry back into buildings is possible.

What can I do to prevent detectors from activating?

  • Do not smoke anything inside any unit or bedroom.
  • Do not touch, tamper, cover, or hang items from a detector.
  • Keep cooking appliances clean by regularly wiping them down.
  • Never leave the kitchen area when cooking.
  • Do not spray any aerosol/liquid in the area of the detectors (perfumes, colognes, air fresheners, etc.).
  • Do not use personal hygiene appliances (blow dryers, hair straighteners, curling irons, etc.) that give off air or steam near the detectors, particularly directly underneath them.
  • Do not bring outside appliances into residence spaces (i.e., Crockpots, toasters, toaster ovens, rice cookers), with the exception of Village
    townhouse kitchens/kitchenettes.

What are the consequences of activating a fire alarm?

  • You will receive a $75.00 charge and are responsible for all costs associated with the repair or reset.
  • Under St. Catharines bylaw, the University will receive a fine for preventable false alarms from the St. Catharines Fire Department ($1,600-$2,500), and that fine will be forwarded to the individual responsible for the preventable false alarm.

The safety of our guests is a top priority. Information about safety on campus can be found at brocku.ca/campus-safety or on the Brock Safety app.

For guests driving a vehicle with only a rear-facing license plate, it is important that you park your vehicle with the license plate facing the laneway, or you will be susceptible to a parking violation warning or fine.

Dining on Campus

All-you-care-to-eat Dining Hall

The buffet dining experience has a marketplace atmosphere with a variety of food stations and all-you-care-to-eat service. This is an efficient and economical solution to the dining needs of groups staying on campus. This is an effortless way to feed the group after traveling, rowing, or touring.

How does this work?

Prior to your arrival, guaranteed numbers must be provided to our dining services team. Dining Services will prepare a menu based on the number of groups and special dietary requirements of the groups arriving that week. The greater the number guests in the dining hall, the more food stations will be available to all.

There is a guaranteed minimum of 75 guests required to open any dining hall.

*Note: Dining options are subject to change without prior notice and Dining Hall availability may be limited based on operational needs of Brock University.
