Canada-Caribbean Institute at Brock

The newest research institute on Brock’s campus.

Internal to Brock University exists a body known as the “CCI@Brock”. This entity, comprised of Brock faculty and staff, unites the expertise and passions of Canada-Caribbean issues across campus through its official designation as a Brock University research institute, under the auspices of the Office of Vice-President, Research. The primary objective of the CCI@Brock is to:

Plan, and help coordinate, the execution of initiatives that will strengthen Brock University’s commitment to the CCI, including facilitating knowledge production and knowledge mobilization

The CCI@Brock is led by a Director, elected by its members at an annual assembly. The inaugural Director of the CCI@Brock University is Dr. Michael Naraine, Associate Professor in the Department of Sport Management. Born in Canada, Dr. Naraine identifies as an Indo-Caribbean scholar, and is a leading expert in the business of sport.

In its quest to facilitate a strengthened research ecosystem between both regions, the CCI@Brock also works closely with Brock University’s International division to establish links between various post-secondary institutions, industry partners, and government bodies in Canada and the Caribbean. These activities involve participation in trade missions to the Caribbean, delivery of short-course and executive education offerings, and engagements designed to spur interest in research collaborations.
