Brock’s Human Rights and Equity (HRE) Office has expanded the equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) resources it offers to students, faculty and staff.
HRE helps to create a safe and inclusive campus environment for all Brock community members by providing education about human rights, harassment, discrimination and related topics.
Created in response to the needs of the Brock community, newly added HRE online resources include:
- Affinity Spaces: A Primer
- Brock’s Transgender Inclusion Guide
- Religious and Spiritual Accommodation Guidelines
- Sexual Violence Policy Summary
Updated Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) training is also now available on Brightspace.
As well as accessing resources on HRE’s website, students, faculty and staff can also use a new online form to request training on a variety of topics, including the Ontario Human Rights Code, accessibility, gender and sexual violence, 2S&LGBTQ+ rights and supports, anti-racism, intersectionality, and EDI leadership.
Members of the Brock community can also access EDI, anti-racism and social justice training and workshops through the Student Justice Centre.
HRE provides a range of services and supports for members of the Brock community:
- The Counsellor of Choice program connects students impacted by identity-based violence with culturally reflective counsellors.
- The Peer-to-Peer Drop-in Space, located in TH 128A, provides students with support, resources and referrals related to gender and sexual violence. The space is staffed by undergraduate and graduate students Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- HRE’s Accessibility and Inclusion Advisor provides members of the Brock community with advice, mental health and well-being resources, and assistance with setting up accommodations.
- The Anti-Racism and Inclusion Advisor provides students, staff and faculty with advice and resources on issues related to EDI and anti-racism.
- The Gender and Sexual Violence Support and Education team provides confidential support for all members of the Brock community who have been impacted by gender or sexual-based violence.
Members of the Brock community can visit the HRE website to learn more about EDI resources, training and assistance on campus.
