The Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) events team is finalizing a full lineup for BadgerFest 2021.
BadgerFest, run by BUSU each year during Brock’s Welcome Weeks, will bring an array of events from bingo to headphone discos, paint parties to outdoor movies, live music to live magic and much more.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has restricted the amount of people able to gather at events, BUSU is working to create safe entertainment for students throughout September.
“This is a special BadgerFest unlike any other year, but it is still going to be super fun,” said BUSU Vice-President of Student Services Faten Darbaj. “Look forward to both in-person and virtual events, and stay tuned to BUSU’s social media for further announcements.”
More information on BadgerFest will be released in the coming days and weeks on badgerfest.ca and @BrockBUSU on Instagram.
BadgerFest is a key part of Welcome Weeks, which include programming, events and activities hosted by a wide variety of campus partners throughout the month of September.
Welcome Weeks activities aim to provide new students with extended opportunities to get involved with orientation activities, transition experiences, and fun events and programming. This year, Welcome Weeks events will be both in-person and online, with in-person events subject to local public health guidelines and Brock University policies, while also requiring students to check in using the new event check in app to ensure contact tracing.
“We are excited to safely welcome students to Brock’s campus this September,” said Manager of Student Engagement Tanya Bradley. “Welcome Weeks is a great opportunity for them to meet new friends and get to know Brock’s campus. We encourage all students to get involved, either in-person or online, with all the fun events and activities that have been planned just for them.”
As part of Brock’s wider orientation activities, which also include summer initiatives such as Smart Start, Leap and BU 101, the University will welcome second-year students who are coming to campus for the first time and graduate students with specialized orientation programs.
There will also be specific virtual, in-person and hybrid welcome activities for students living in Brock residences. Running from Sunday, Sept. 5 to Sunday, Sept. 19, the residence events will focus on community building, wellness and an introduction to campus with a priority on health and safety following public health and University guidelines.
