Brock employees invited to family skate, hockey game

Brock employees and their families are invited to partake in a day filled with two quintessential Canadian pastimes — ice skating and hockey.

Whether it’s circling the rink hand-in-hand with a loved one, showing off newly developed tricks or taking a break to warm up with a hot chocolate, ice skating is a great way to socialize with family and friends.

University employees and their families are invited to the annual Brock Family Skate Friday, Feb. 9 from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by a Brock Badgers men’s hockey game versus the University of Toronto at 7:15 p.m. Both events will take place at the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre in St. Catharines.

Organized by Brock’s Human Resources office, the complimentary wellness initiative is an opportunity for Brock employees to get active, spend time with colleagues and family members and support Brock’s varsity hockey team.

Registration is not required. Tickets to the Brock Badgers hockey game will be distributed at the Brock Family Skate.

Participants must bring their own ice skates and equipment. Rentals will not be available.

All children six years old and under must wear a helmet approved by the Canadian Standards Association when participating in public skating. Children will not be allowed on the ice without the approved equipment.

Assistive devices (chairs, pylons, strollers, etc.) are not permitted except for individuals with disabilities requiring assistance.

Ice skating offers a diverse range of health and fitness benefits, including improved balance, flexibility, muscle tone, cardio and endurance, as well as stress relief and self confidence.
