2015 Faculty Institute on Community-Engaged Learning: Aligning Intention and Action in Community-Engaged Learning

The Centre for Community Partnerships invites proposals for research papers to be presented at the 2015 Faculty Institute on Community-Engaged Learning at the University of Toronto, May 13, 2015.

We welcome twenty minute papers on any aspect of community-engaged teaching and learning, which may include research on community-engaged courses (qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods or other) or theoretical or conceptual papers related to the field of service-learning or community-engaged learning. Papers that speak to the Institute’s theme of “Aligning Intention and Action in Community-Engaged Learning” are particularly encouraged.

Possible topics may include:

  • student learning in community-engaged learning courses
  • community-engaged learning from a disciplinary perspective
  • community impact of community-engaged learning courses
  • the place of community-engaged learning in the university
  • reflection and other pedagogical components of community-engaged courses
  • social justice, diversity and community-engaged learning
  • the relationship between community-engaged research and teaching

Individuals interested in presenting twenty minute papers should submit proposals of up to 300 words to Jennifer Esmail, Coordinator of Academic Service-Learning and Faculty Development at jennifer.esmail@utoronto.ca. Proposals are due by April 2, 2015 and should include a paper title and a 50-75 word biographical statement. We welcome proposals from all interested individuals regardless of institutional affiliation.
