Students in Unpaid Practicum Placements

Students in UNPAID Practicum Placements (including students who are completing a combination of paid and unpaid hours) are REQUIRED TO REVIEW ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS AT BROCKU’s HUMAN RESOURCES – HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELLNESS SITE.

You will be required to submit the following:

  • Pre-Placement Field Trip Due Diligence Checklist (2 pages) – TO BE SIGNED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PLACEMENT EMPLOYER, not the student;
  • Student Declaration of Understanding (2 pages);
  • Letter to Placement Employers (2 pages); and
  • Pre-Placement Safety Orientation Checklist (1 page).

PDF UPLOADS ONLY (max 9.6Mb)
Errors in uploading are generally related to file size. Please double check the quality and image settings of the scanner – higher quality and colour scanning increases file size dramatically.

Unpaid Practicum Placements

Students receive no funds from their placement employers (may be receiving stipends, honorariums or expense reimbursements). A practicum agreement must be in place outlining practicum student and practicum site/supervisor responsibilities.

If you require additional information about whether you qualify as a paid or unpaid practicum student, please contact Dr. Julie Koudys, Clinical Coordinator at jkoudys@brocku.ca.

Additional forms will be required both during and at the end of the practicum course(s). Information about these forms will be provided by your course instructors.
