Residence move-in

Times assigned by Department of Residence

Welcome to Residence, we’re happy to have you! You will move in, get introduced to your Don and other Residence Life Staff members from your building along with meeting other students who will become your community for the remainder of the year! Don’t hesitate to ask the Residence Life Staff any questions.

Residence first meetings & dinner

5:00pm – 8:00pm

Welcome to Residence! Each house, hall, court, and block are welcomed to eat as a community and get to know one another. Your Don will provide you with meeting times and locations on Move-in Day!

Brock off-campus student bbq

6:00pm – 7:30pm, Isaac’s

The Brock Off-Campus BBQ is back for 2018 and it’s bigger and better than ever! Come out to Isaac’s Bar and Grill meet other off campus students and members of Brock Society of Off Campus Students (SOCS) and have some food, drinks and fun! Can’t wait to see you there!

Are you excited to start your first year!? Are you ready for the BEST seven days of your undergrad? What better way to kick off the week than with fellow Badgers at the Kick-Off Party!? Here you will meet your execs, show your school pride, win wicked swag items and more!

Don’t think it can happen to you? Come see what happens when a fire gets out of control in a residence room. Learn more about fire safety on campus and in your home.

Tower party

9:00pm – 12:00am, Tower Field

Kick off Badger Fest with a pump up from your Executive Team, followed by the biggest outdoor dance party right on Campus. Come out to enjoy a live DJ, dazzling light show, and your first opportunity to meet those you will be spending the next four years with. Must have your student ID to enter. See you there, Badgers!

International Student Orientation

11:00am – 2:00pm, International Centre

Welcome to Brock and to Canada! This International Student Orientation will help new international students become familiar with the services and culture at Brock University.
Meet new people from all over the world and connect with upper year Brock students, learn about the academic culture in Canada and the support services available to you as a student, including UHIP; and take a campus tour.

Summer games

12:00pm – 3:00pm, Weather Station Field

Do you have what it takes to be a badger? Go head-to-head in a friendly competitive tradition against other Brock Communities for the coveted title of Summer Games Champion! Get you team cheers ready to help Brock kick off the year! Test your smarts and your skills at our many events and cool down with some tasty refreshments. Bring your reusable water bottles and your game face for a fun filled time! Remember to bring your student card to track your attendance on ExperienceBU!

Courtyard coffeehouse

5:30pm – 7:30pm, Jubilee Courtyard

Are you looking for the perfect way to relax and mingle? Join us at the Courtyard Coffee House for an evening of cupcake decorating, board games, and live acoustic music. We will also be serving light refreshments and of course, coffee! This is an open event, so feel free to drop in anytime between 5:30-7:30pm.
The event has been moved from Jubilee Courtyard to Pond Inlet due to rain! We’ll see you there!

Rally up the troops and make your way to SOS for a night of comedy you won’t find anywhere else!! The line is always out the door, so make sure to get here early and snag a seat before they’re gone! Must have your student ID to enter. See you there, Badgers!

New Student Welcome and Academic Orientation

8:00am – 12:30pm, Ian Beddis Gym

The New Student Welcome and Academic orientation is your official welcome to Brock University! Hear from President Gervan Fearon and enjoy an inspirational keynote to kick your day off! Then connect with your faculty and upper year student mentors to receive important information about your faculty, department, and program, and available academic supports and resources.

Vendor & Clubs fair

10:00am – 4:00pm, Weather Station Field

Do you know what services are offered to you at Brock? Are you interested in joining a team or club? Want free food, prizes, company giveaways and more? Check out this year’s Vendor & Clubs Fair, Brock’s biggest Welcome Week event that connects you to the people and places available to you during your time as a Badger. With over 50 vendors both on campus and off, you’re sure to grab everything you need in one place. Bring your BadgerFest bag and walk through our free, two-day fair to play games, collect info, eat some food, and win prizes! We’ll see you there, Badgers!

Get a taste for climbing at Brock University’s outdoor rock climbing tower and high ropes challenge course. Equipment and instruction will be provided.  Bring closed toed shoes and a sense of adventure. Note:  All climbers must sign a participant waiver.  Those under 18 must have parent/guardian signature.

An exciting and informative way to talk about consent and healthy relationships. Come and hear from Collegiate Empowerment who have been offering educational and exciting programming to students across North America and learn about how consent is the basis for any healthy relationship now and in the future.

International centre Open-House

Experience the east side of campus! Journey across Glenridge avenue and join us for our Open House featuring free BBQ, live music and fun games. The event is highlighted by the introduction of the 2018-19 International Student Ambassadors. You’ll also have the chance to meet with international support staff and learn more about exciting programs and opportunities to increase your intercultural awareness.

Do you enjoy some friendly competition? Come on out and play bubble soccer with your friends! This event will allow you to compete with your team for Merritt Cup points and prizes! This tournament style event will allow you to play several games of bubble soccer.
Each team will have 5 players. Come with your friends or make a team at the event!

Video Game Tournament

It’s game time!! Visit Isaac’s Lounge to take on Brock’s best gamers for a chance to win some awesome prizes. Tournament game(s) to be announced later. Follow BUSU’s social media for the release and sign-up sheet. Game on, Badger’s!

Mixed not Mangled

Experience a three-dimensional environment through virtual reality technology, learn about safe partying, explore creative options for mocktails while participating in interactive games. All are welcome! Fun, food and more fun! Bring your student card for entrance.

outdoor Movie Night

You may not be a movie buff… but it’s always nice to see a new film on the big screen! Bring your friends and bring a blanket, because it’s sure to be a night you won’t forget. Join us for an outdoor screening under the stars, complete with popcorn and refreshments! Stay tuned for out movie announcement!

ABORIGINAL Student Services Open House

Aboriginal Student Services is hosting an Open House event. Everyone is welcome to come out, meet our staff and learn more about our services and upcoming events.

Goat Yoga

For the first time ever, we are bringing goats to Brock! Goat yoga is one of the newest and fastest growing trends in North America, and an event that is now part of your Welcome Week experience! What better way to de-stress and start off your school year right, than by bonding with your fellow Badger’s and playing with the cutest, friendliest, barnyard animals you ever did see!?

An Evening Under the Stars

Join BUSU and Brock International for a traditional summer pastime held right here on campus! Guaranteed to a be great time with food, music, and great company.

Come try your luck at various casino games, winning and spending condoms instead of chips. If poker is your thing, be sure to grab a seat in our Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament, which will be starting at 7:30pm. The night also features the ever-popular Dirty Bingo tournament, for you to play three rounds of the classic game and be eligible to win some “intimate” prizes from our special guest host! The night is sure to be rowdy and a ton fun – you don’t want to miss this! Ghost walk

Downtown (meet at Isaac’s Statue)

Prepare yourself to feel the shivers as you venture on a guided ghost walk of Downtown St. Catharines. Explore the history and haunted tales of the unique buildings not far from campus. Think you can handle the scare? Come join us for a night that will send a chill down your spine.

Badger’s Got Talent

Do you love to sing? Are you a skilled magician? Have you mastered the violin? Whatever your talent, we want to see it! BUSU and Residence Life have teamed up again to host the year’s biggest open mic talent show night, now in a new location @ Isaac’s!!! Come check out the stage and, if you’ve got the nerve, jump on stage to perform! We have so many talented Badgers right here on campus, and we want to give you your time to shine. Paint Party: GlowRage presents PaintU

For one night, and one night only, Paint Party is back! Come on out to Weather Station Field for one of the biggest events we’ve ever thrown, and don’t forget your Badger Fest t-shirt and sunglasses! Brock Cares Day of Service

9:00am – 4:00pm, Isaac’s

Want to end off your O-Week by giving back to the Niagara community? The 10th annual Brock Cares Day of Service is for you! Come out and participate in Brock University’s biggest community service day to give back to the community, and learn about the various volunteer opportunities at Brock and across the Niagara Region. Volunteers will receive FREE FOOD, and transportation to all sites will be provided.

Niagara Falls in the summer is a beautiful sight to see – whether you are from the region or here for the first time, taking in the beauty and majesty of Niagara Falls is always a memorable experience. You will have free time to take in the Falls, watch the “Niagara Fury”, visit Casino Niagara (19+), explore the shops and exhibits that line Clifton Hill or test your luck at the Great Canadian Midway. What you do is completely up to you!$10

Come join us at the beach for some fun in the sun! If you enjoy relaxing at the beach you are welcome to come enjoy the beach with us! If you like sand castle building competitions, beach volleyball and Frisbee this is also the event for you!

Everyone deserves to feel like a kid again. Our classic carnival will bring a smile to your face as you experience games, face painting, and lots of carnival snacks. Come show off your strength at the high striker or your skills at the bean bag toss – there is something for everyone!
