Hundreds of students and alumni stomped their way into Brock Homecoming weekend Friday, Sept. 23, marking the return of the University’s messiest tradition.

Held last in 2019, Brock’s Homecoming Grape Stomp saw more than 500 students and alumni do their best to pulverize two metric tonnes of Concord grapes, flinging them at friends and cheering one another on as they transformed Jubilee Court into a giant slip and slide.

A signature Brock event, Grape Stomp has been called one of the best university traditions in Canada by University Affairs magazine.

“The Grape Stomp has always been a great event to bring the Brock community together,” said Kristen Smith, Brock’s Manager, Community Experience and Leadership. “It was nice to see so many students, staff, faculty and alumni gathered in Jubilee Court again for such a memorable day.”

The event included live music by Vinyl Flux and a free barbecue for the Brock community. Two bins of non-perishable food items were also collected in support of Community Care St. Catharines and Thorold.

The annual Grape Stomp is one of several events that kicked off Brock’s Homecoming celebration this weekend, which includes the Steel Blade Classic hockey game and Brock Night at the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival.
