If you need assistance with the form or are unsure which one to use, please contact your Business Development Manager.
Our team will quickly assess the commercial potential of your work using pre-screening criteria, including expert opinions, product attributes, value propositions, prior art reviews, market prospects, and ROI analysis.
Please refer to the infographic above for a summary of our process. For a detailed overview please read below.
The first step in our commercialization process is the submission of a Report of Innovation (ROI). This confidential document allows you to formally disclose your innovation to our team. It includes background information on your research and details about the innovation. Submitting an ROI early enables us to evaluate the commercial viability of your innovation and begin the process of protecting your intellectual property.
Once your innovation is disclosed, our team rapidly assesses its market potential and determines an intellectual property (IP) strategy. This assessment involves evaluating the novelty, technical viability, and the existing IP landscape. We then provide a recommendation on whether and how to proceed with commercialization. This recommendation is a business decision based on the commercial potential rather than an assessment of the academic value of the innovation.
Protecting your intellectual property is crucial for successful commercialization. Depending on the nature of your innovation, we may pursue patent protection, trademark registration, or other forms of IP protection. We also enter into an Assignment Agreement, which transfers ownership of the IP to our institution, allowing us to fully invest in the commercialization process on your behalf.
