Institutional Planning & Data Governance

Brock’s Department of Institutional Planning & Data Governance (IPDG) seeks to empower every person at Brock University with the ability to make evidence-based decisions. We are committed to recognizing the importance of communication and encouraging open dialogue as it relates to strategic enrolment management. Through the collection, evaluation, and organization of enrolment, survey, and other institutional data, we will continue to support the leaders of the institution in their pursuit of improving institutional effectiveness and overall student success.

Primary accountabilities

Enrolment, retention, graduation and other reporting

IPDG provides comprehensive reporting, delivering accurate data information to support strategic planning, resource allocation, and student success initiatives across Brock University.

Survey implementation and analysis

IPDG provides expert support in survey design, administration, and strategic analysis, helping departments gather insights and make data-driven decisions that advance Brock’s academic and institutional goals.

University rankings

IPDG supports Brock’s participation in national and global rankings by providing accurate data, strategic insights, and analysis to enhance the university’s reputation and showcase its academic excellence.

Ministry reporting and government accountabilities

IPDG ensures timely, accurate reporting to government bodies, supporting Brock’s compliance with ministry requirements and enhancing transparency in university performance and accountability.

Cyclical program review and development

IPDG provides data and analytical support, helping faculties assess quality, outcomes, and sustainability of their programs in alignment with Brock’s academic standards and strategic priorities.

Information request fulfillment

IPDG fulfills data and information requests from campus stakeholders, offering responsive, customized support to inform decisions, planning, and research across Brock’s academic and administrative units.

Internal Memberships and Partnerships

A working group comprised of IPDG, The Office of the Registrar and Enrolment Services (ORES), Faculty of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (FGSPA), and Information Technology Services (ITS) with the purpose of finding efficiencies in the PFIS-USER enrolment submission process to the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCURES) portal.

Focussing on the alignment of enrolment goals with institutional priorities, SEM involves initiatives around student recruitment, retention, program demand, forecasting, financial sustainability, and student success strategies.

Through the coordination of efforts among Survey Management Committee members, including IPDG, the management of university surveys allows for improved governance, centralization, and planning of surveys that run throughout the academic year.

Brock University’s Action Plan Working Group brings together leaders from across campus to drive strategic initiatives, monitor progress on Brock University’s strategic goals, and ensure alignment with Brock’s mission and long-term vision.

A collaborative group of Brock members that work for the pursuit and organization of engagement with Rankings. Highlighting strengths and values of Brock University, bringing the world to Brock, and Brock to the world.
