What to Expect at Pre-departure Training
Pre-departure training is intended to answer all your questions around exchange and study abroad – even the questions you didn’t know you had.
The session includes topics such as:
- Course requirements, grades and transcripts
- Academic culture differences and tips for academic success
- Being a Brock ambassador/Code of Conduct
- Cultural awareness and stewardship
- Health and wellness including health insurance, mental health and supports
- Travel planning and immigration considerations
- Safety and resources
- Finances and budgeting
- Scholarships and awards
You will also hear from Brock students who have returned from exchange.
Who Should Attend?
Pre-departure is here to inform you and your family and give you the opportunity to ask questions and be prepared. Pre-departure training is mandatory for all students participating in the Student Exchange Program. Missing the training may result in your offer being revoked.
We strongly encourage parents to attend this session to understand the experience and supports available for their children while they study abroad.
Cost to Attend
$135 per student
Price includes:
- Pre-departure training and re-entry workshops
- Ongoing support before, during and after your exchange semester(s)
- Lunch at training and workshops
- Materials and merch related to your host country
