Sabrina Gong – Assistant Professor of Accounting
Professor Sabrina Gong joined the Goodman School of Business in July 2019 after finishing her PhD in Accounting at the University of Alberta. She holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Guelph and Renmin University of China, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Renmin University of China.
Her teaching experience includes financial accounting and managerial accounting. Her research interests mainly lie in the impact of accounting standards, disclosure and managerial behavior. Prior to pursuing her career in academia, she worked in both financial institutions and the non-financial sector in Canada and abroad.
Nam Ho – Assistant Professor of Accounting
Nam Ho teaches auditing courses at the Goodman School of Business. He completed his PhD in accounting at Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds an MSc in Accounting from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as an MA in Economics from the University of Toronto, and a BA in Economics from the University of Waterloo. Full profile.
Sohyung Kim – Associate Professor of Accounting
Sohyung Kim received his PhD from the University of British Columbia, a MS in Accounting from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a BBA from Seoul National University, Korea. Kim began teaching at the Goodman School of Business in 2010. He currently teaches financial accounting for undergraduate as well as graduate students. He was the recipient of the 2013/2014 Professor of the Year Award, Graduate level, selected by the Brock University Business Students’ Association. Before moving to North America, he was an instructor at Korea Accounting and Information School in Seoul, Korea.
Jennifer Li
Jingyu (Jennifer) Li began teaching at the Goodman School of Business in 2003. She holds a PhD in accounting from Massey University, a MAcc from Missouri State University, and a BA in English Literature from Beijing Normal University. She also holds the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Ontario certification, and teaching certificates from Massey University and Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. At Goodman, Li served as a member of the IMAcc and MAcc curriculum review committees, the undergraduate program committee, and the CPA accreditation committee. She was the Director of the Confucius Institute at Brock University (CIBU), an organization dedicated to the appreciation of Chinese culture, supporting the cultural needs of the University and beyond. She is currently the Associate Dean – Undergraduate Programs. Li is on the editorial board of Journal of Economic Science Research. Periodically, she peer-reviews for the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA) Annual Conference and the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC) Conference.
Parunchana Pacharn – Associate Professor of Accounting
Parunchana Pacharn teaches courses in external reporting and financial accounting. She holds a PhD and MSc in accounting from Carnegie Mellon University, an MBA from Ohio State University, and a BBA from Thammasat University. She joined the Goodman School of Business in 2007 as an Assistant Professor, and became an Associate Professor in 2012. Previously, she was also an Assistant Professor at the School of Management at the State University of New York (Buffalo). At Goodman, Pacharn has served as a member of many faculty committees, including the MAcc Program Committee, the Accounting Department Recruiting Committee, and the Faculty Qualifications Committee. Simon Suwanyangyuan – Assistant Professor of Accounting
Dr. Simon Suwanyangyuan joined the faculty of the Goodman School of Business in 2018. He received his PhD in Business Administration (Accounting) from Simon Fraser University, a MS in Accounting from the University of Rochester and a BAcc with an auditing concentration from Chulalongkorn University.
Prior to working in academia, Dr. Suwanyangyuan worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Thailand) as an audit assistant, during which time he obtained his CPA (Thailand) designation. He has also been an accounting lecturer at Chulalongkorn University and Simon Fraser University.
Samir Trabelsi – Professor of Accounting
Samir Trabelsi is a Professor of Accounting and Governance at the Goodman School of Business. Professor Trabelsi began teaching at the Goodman School of Business in 2004. He holds a PhD in Accounting from HEC Montreal and a CPA designation. He has taught courses in corporate governance, external reporting, and research methodology. Prior to his academic career, Trabelsi practiced public accounting at KPMG Tunisia. Trabelsi’s research interests are in the area of corporate governance, sustainability, corruption, and risk management. Trabelsi’s research is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. He won the best paper award at several conferences. He has also been the recipient of the Brock University Award for Excellence in Teaching (2017) and the Departmental Researcher of the Year Award (2019).
As the founding director of the CPA (formerly CGA) Ontario Research Excellence Centre and even prior to its establishment, Dr. Trabelsi organized many international conferences, globally as well as on the Brock University campus. These events have brought together academics and practitioners from across the province, Canada and internationally.
