Residences will be closing at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 19

Brock University’s student residences will be closing this week, and all remaining students, excluding exceptional circumstances, will be required to move out of their residence rooms by 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 19.

The only exception to this will be students who can demonstrate that they have no other alternatives for accommodation.

If you cannot return to your home due to international travel restrictions or other circumstances, please notify us by email at northdesk@brocku.ca or southdesk@brocku.ca. Steps will be taken to assist you to find suitable accommodation.

With in-person classes suspended, students have no cause to remain on campus for academic purposes. Brock has suspended all face-to-face classes and exams for the rest of this academic term and also for the Spring and Summer terms.

Brock residence students who vacate their rooms by 6 p.m. Thursday, March 19 will have a credit applied to their student accounts.

This elevated measure is part of the University’s moves to support urgent Public Health and Government directives to avoid all situations where groups of people can congregate, as part of a national effort to slow the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

Brock University is committed to protecting the safety and wellbeing of its students, faculty and staff, and it is imperative to have students avoid communal living situations as well as avoid potential transmission settings both on and off campus.

Thus, students are urgently advised to return to their family or permanent homes, where there is a reduced risk to being exposed to COVID-19.

Residence staff will be contacting students so they can co-ordinate an orderly moving out of residences.
