Brock University’s Health, Safety and Wellness team is reminding faculty and staff of mental health supports and training opportunities in honour of World Mental Health Day, which takes place Friday, Oct. 10.With World Mental Health Day taking place Friday, Oct. 10, Brock’s Health, Safety and Wellness (HSW) team is inviting faculty and staff to learn more about resources and supports provided by the University.
“Mental health touches every part of who we are — as colleagues, friends and community members. By creating space for open conversations and access to support, we strengthen our culture of compassion and belonging,” says Manager, Health Management and Wellness Martina Ciglenecki. “Our commitment to accessible mental health resources continues to reflect our belief that a supportive workplace culture is the foundation for growth, belonging and innovation.”
Several wellness resources and supports are available through the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) for eligible employees and their families. Employees can learn more about the EFAP during an orientation webinar on Thursday, Oct. 9. An EFAP orientation for managers will take place Thursday, Nov. 6.

This fall, Brock’s HSW team is also hosting two sessions of The Working Mind, a program designed to promote mental health and reduce the stigma of mental illness in a workplace setting. The employee session takes place Tuesday, Oct. 21 and the two-day manager session takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 22 and Thursday, Oct. 23. Registration through ExperienceBU is required.
