Make a difference as an International Student Ambassador

Andri Hudlin’s Brock journey began almost a decade ago when she visited her sister on campus as a shy 11-year-old.

“From that moment, I knew I wanted to be a Badger,” says the first-year Data Science and Analytics student who is originally from Trinidad and Tobago.

Hudlin is now helping other students achieve their dreams through Brock’s International Student Ambassador Award Program, an opportunity she says is full of “unforgettable experiences.”

Applications for the International Student Ambassador Award Program are now open for the 2025-26 academic year and will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1. Up to 10 students will be selected as ambassadors, with each required to dedicate 80 hours to the role throughout the Fall and Winter Terms.

International Student Ambassadors work with Brock International to support events and services that help international students find community and local students learn about other cultures.

“As a first-year student and team member, I had the opportunity to serve as an ambassador while simultaneously embracing what the program is truly about: feeling a sense of community and belonging, forming meaningful peer connections and creating journal-worthy moments,” Hudlin said.

In return, ambassadors get assistance towards the cost of studying in Canada, with selected students having their international tuition fees reduced to the domestic student rate.

That financial support has helped to reduce the financial burden of post-secondary education for third-year Biomedical Sciences student Irene Charley, who also has two siblings in university. Charley, whose family is originally from India, was born and raised in the United Arab Emirates before coming to Brock three years ago.

She became an International Student Ambassador to share her knowledge of Brock’s services and supports with incoming students.

Charley says being an ambassador is a chance to “make a meaningful impact in students’ lives.”

“This role allows you to support others through their university journey, build a strong sense of community and gain a deeper understanding of different cultures. It is also a great way to become more involved on campus and gain valuable skills in communication, mentorship and problem-solving,” she says.
