Wellness Week to focus on students’ mental, physical health

Opportunities to de-stress, eat good food and have some fun are central to a week of activities designed to help Brock students focus on their well-being during this busy time of year.

Hosted by the Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) and the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) in partnership with the Brock Library and Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC), Wellness Week will run from Monday, March 5 to Friday, March 9.

Among the BUSU-run events are four Kangaroo Jump classes, two free breakfasts, time to crochet and chill, and a trivia night.

Each BUSU Wellness Week event provides undergraduate student participants with the opportunity to enter to win a bundle prize pack that includes a $100 gift card to Lululemon, Beats Ear Buds and a Brock University branded Stanley tumbler. To enter, find the giveaway posters at each event, scan the QR code and follow the instructions. The winner will be emailed on Monday, March 11.

Graduate students can relax and recharge their minds by registering to take part in a sound bath session, enjoy a free snack bag lunch or participate in a pottery painting session that will allow students to create their own painted cereal bowl or mug.

Additional offerings from the Library include a yoga session, an origami workshop for beginners and a session exploring benefits of mindfulness using coffee and aromatherapy to boost focus, ease stress and enhance overall well-being.

For students who would like to connect with a Peer Health Educator, Brock’s SWAC HUB is a space where students can drop in to TH 134 for support from noon to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.

For more information, resources or to register for an event, visit the BUSU Wellness Week website, the GSA ExperienceBU, the Brock Library ExperienceBU, the SWAC website or the SWAC ExperienceBU.
