Positive affirmations and self-care tips were flowing while students took turns cuddling with therapy dogs at Brock’s Bell Let’s Talk Wellness Fair on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
Hosted by the Student Health and Wellness HUB, the event welcomed more than 150 students to learn about mental health supports on campus while also playing games and making crafts aimed at relieving stress.
Activities were led by HUB Peer Health Educators and volunteers, while Mental Health Nurse Melanie Bognar was onsite to speak about the physical and cognitive effects of not getting enough sleep. Bognar also provided valuable tips on healthy ways to improve sleep hygiene and signs that more resources may be needed.
Focusing on engaging cultural and spiritual health, staff from Brock’s Hadiya’dagénhahs First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Centre; the Black Student Success Centre and the Faith and Life Centre were on hand to talk about services and promote upcoming events.
More information about supports available for students is available on the Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre website.
