As exam season and its related stresses near, Brock University is reminding students of the many mental health supports available to help them navigate challenging days they may encounter along the way.
Mental health counselling and resources can be accessed 24-7 through the My SSP mobile app, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Students can also receive urgent/crisis 24-7 telephone counselling by calling 1-833-276-2533 (1-833-BROCK33), while those who are outside of North America can call 001 416 382 3257, for 24-7 telephone support every day of the year.
Sarah Pennisi, Director of Brock’s Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC), said the supports are part of a year-round commitment to students’ well-being.
“At Brock University, we care deeply about student wellness and want students to know that there are many different options available to support their mental health during stressful times or events,” she said. “We sincerely invite students to reach out and connect with supports if they need them.”
Along with urgent counselling opportunities, the following options are available:
- Online Canadian Mental Health Association evening drop-in counselling from 3:30 to 7 p.m. from Monday to Thursday.
- Online and in-personappointments for varsity athletes on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Thistle 122.
- Online group workshops on an ongoing basis via ExperienceBU.
- Support regarding addiction through the Addiction Booking System.
