EFAP therapy options, virtual events among employee wellness updates

Brock University’s Health Management and Wellness team has several updates for employees as July approaches.

Staff, faculty and librarians seeking counselling services through LifeWorks, Brock’s Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provider, are reminded they can request a therapist with specific experiences or specializations associated with age, ethnicity, gender, geography, language and religion, among others. LifeWorks draws from a diverse network to match clients with the best-qualified resources to suit individual needs.

Employees seeking wellness opportunities are invited to attend any of the upcoming free virtual wellness events outlined in the July Wellness Calendar:

Employees are also invited to participate in the Timed Trek Across Canada physical activity challenge. Although it has already begun, employees can still join and start tracking their activity to help collectively reach 122,000 minutes of movement. Participants will be entered into a random draw to win a Campus Store gift card.

Brock community members are also reminded of the University’s year-long initiative to make kindness the norm. The workplace kindness calendar theme for July is Human Connection. Kindness suggestions for the month include inviting someone to lunch, sharing a sincere compliment and asking a co-worker about their culture.

The toolbox includes a listing of resources from LifeWorks wellness newsletters on topics such as mental health, parenting, leadership, relationships, nutrition and finance. The July LifeWorks newsletter features articles on how to build a life of close connections and making new friends as an adult.
