Travel Tuesday – UK Edition

Goodman students have the choice to study in multiple cities throughout the UK. This is a great option for those looking to get the European experience while maintaining familiarity in language. The UK has a long, fascinating history and is renowned for its education system. The UK is generally a very safe place to live and spend a semester abroad. It may be less of a shock to study abroad in the UK considering they speak English, but they are a diverse collection of nations with a unique culture. The UK is a great destination for sports enthusiasts, those who enjoy the bar scene and fans of cinema and theater.

Aston Business School

Aston Business School is located in the pleasant city of Birmingham. It has its own international airport and is less than 90 minutes from London by train. One can explore Birmingham by canal boat as it contains more miles of canal than Venice. Aston University is well recognized and is rated five stars for its excellence in teaching, among other strengths. The fall semester dates and transferable credits make it a great destination for Goodman Co-op and Accounting students.

 

Leeds University Business School

University of Leeds is a large school with over 32,000 students including 7,000 international students from around the world. The campus is on the edge of Leeds city center, which is located near the middle of the UK. The city is two hours by train from London and three hours from Edinburgh.

Nottingham Business School

In addition to being the home of famous vigilante Robin Hood, Nottingham also houses upwards of 60,000 students. The Business School has both EQUIS and AACSB accreditation and ranks in the top 95 European Business Schools by Financial Times.

University of Surrey, School of Management

With a campus located only 35 minutes from London by train, this is a great option for travel enthusiasts. Finding accommodation is easy as there are many housing options both on and off campus.  Surrey is home to green countryside, woodlands and many different scenic landscapes to enjoy.

 

Newcastle Business School

Newcastle Business School is under the umbrella of the prestigious Northumbria University. Newcastle has repeatedly been voted the UK’s best city for students and carries a reputation for its warm and friendly culture. It is a compact city with all the student necessities.

 

Strathclyde Business School

Strathclyde is located in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city. In 2016, Rough Guides recognized Glasgow as the world’s friendliest city. This highly prestigious school has won eight Times Higher Education Awards including Business School of the Year in 2016.

Studying business for a semester in the UK is more than drinking tea and eating crumpets while completing your degree. It provides an opportunity to be immersed in the European business world and to see how business is conducted in a different setting. During a semester abroad in the UK, students build working relationships with other English-speaking professionals and learn how to engage in a cross-cultural setting.
