MPH Specializations

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program provides students the opportunity to complete their online MPH degree with a specialization in Health Information Management (HIM) or Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC). The Health Information Management specialization ensures that our MPH graduates can transform data into valuable information that will impact the quality of prevention and care across Canada. Similarly, the Infection Prevention and Control specialization nested within the MPH program will provide training for our students with the technical expertise in infection control and leadership to keep Canada’s public safe.

When designing the HIM and IPAC specialization courses, we worked very closely with Canada’s national organizations including Canadian Health Information Management Association and IPAC Canada, respectively. In doing so, our courses have been purposefully developed and created so our MPH students will be able to challenge the national board exams with the intent to become either a Certified Health Information Professional or Certification in Infection Control

The MPH program also offers Graduate Micro-Programs (GMPs) in both HIM and IPAC. Each of our GMPs are comprised of a cluster of three graduate courses designed to boost your specialized HIM or IPAC skillset, accelerate your learning journey, and expand your career opportunities. Upon successful program completion, students earn a GMP notation on an official Brock University transcript. While our GMPs in HIM and IPAC can be completed as stand-alone programs, students can apply their three courses earned in a GMP toward admission to our full MPH degree program. For more information on linking a GMP to a Master’s degree, learn about our Bridge to Masters Degree.
