Lorene Bourgeois
Part-time Instructor
Lorène Bourgeois studied art in Paris, Philadelphia, and Halifax (MFA, NSCAD, 1986). Her work in drawing, painting, and printmaking, has been exhibited widely in Canada as well as in France, Korea, Russia, and the United States. Two recent exhibitions at Studio 21 in Halifax, and Galerie du Nouvel Ontario in Sudbury, featured drawings and paintings based upon the subject of cloth and its relation to the human body. She is a recipient of numerous awards and her work is in many collections. Lorène teaches VISA 1P93 Introduction to Drawing and VISA 1P94 Figure Drawing.

Amy Friend
Part-time Instructor
Amy Friend holds a BFA Honors Degree and BEd from York University as well as an MFA from the University of Windsor, where she received a Social Sciences and Humanities Grant for her photographic work. Amy has exhibited nationally and internationally, including exhibitions at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana and in Camaguey, Cuba. Amy’s work is represented in public and private collections. A large-scale mural is permanently installed in the Joan and Martin Goldfarb Building at York University, Toronto. In the summer of 2011 she will attend the Banff Artist in Residence Program.

Irene Loughlin is an interdisciplinary artist who works at the intersections of performance art, video, sound, installation, painting, drawing and writing. She holds an MVS from the University of Toronto, a BFA from Simon Fraser University, has attended the SVA and NSCAD Summer Studio Programs in New York and is an alumni of OCAD.

She has presented her work in various national and international contexts including upcoming works at Schloss Solitude, (2011, Stuttgart, Germany), a performance and sound art work for the LIVE Performance Biennale (2011, Vancouver, BC), and a video and sculptural installation for The Factory, (2012, Hamilton, ON). She has created and presented collaborative work at the Performance Saga Festival (Bern, Switzerland 2008), video/performances at the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (San Jose, Costa Rica), Zonadearte Gallery (Buenos Aires, Argentina), the Deformes Festival (Santiago, Chile), and multi-media works for The Western Front, Grunt Gallery, Gallery Gachet, The Society for Disability Art and Culture (Vancouver), 7a11d Festival (Toronto), and FADO/OCAD (Toronto). Loughlin has been awarded a SSHRC Scholarship (Masters level) and the Lynch Staunton Award, Canada Council for the Arts and is the author of numerous essays, articles and conference proceedings.

Judith Marquis
Lecturer
Judy received her MFA from York University. Judy is an artist who works in various mediums including drawing, sculpture and photography. Her work was recently exhibited at Brock University and the Niagara Artist Company Gallery in St. Catharines, as well as the White Water Gallery in North Bay, Ontario.

Arnold McBay
Visual Arts Facilities Technician and Instructor
Arnold is an artist and musician who has exhibited widely across Ontario.  His work is represented in public & private collections across North America and he is represented by Thielsen Gallery of London, Ontario. Recent projects include: a major exhibition at the Burlington Art Centre in the fall of 2009, solo exhibitions at Pan Cafe in St. Catharines November/February 2009/2010, the Sean O'Sullivan Theatre lobby January 2010, Follow at the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre 2011, and was part of a major group exhibition curated by Jamelie Hassan & Jens Thielsen entitled Where You Be in Eternity? mounted at Thielsen Gallery of London, Ontario spring 2011.

Zeke Moores
Part-time Instructor
Zeke Moores is a sculptor with an extensive background in fabrication, foundry work and blacksmithing. Zeke has a BFA from NSCAD and an MFA from University of Windsor, Ontario. He exhibits nationally and internationally and also teaches courses in Sculpture at the University of Windsor. His work can currently be seen in an extended installation at the Thames Art Gallery 2007 Outdoor Project in Chatham Ontario.

Scott Sawtell
Part-time Instructor
Scott received his MFA from the University of Waterloo and is currently teaching at the Ontario College of Art as well as Brock University. Scott has a busy practice as an artist, exhibiting across the country and in New York and Chicago, augmented by his work as a curator, most recently at Oakville Galleries.

David Wright
Part-time Instructor
David received his MFA in England. His early paintings range from large-scale “mega visual” abstractions in acrylic and mixed media, drawing visual references from the urban and technological environment. His recent work has moved to a more naturalistic interpretation of his environment, painting subjects to which he feels a more personal attachment. He has exhibited extensively in Canada, USA and Mexico. His work is represented internationally in more than 100 corporate and public collections.

Marlie Centawer
Part-time instructor
Marlie holds two Master of Arts degrees from Brock University (Studies in Comparative Literatures and Arts, and Popular Culture) and has also studied at the Nova Scotia College of Arts and Design/ NSCAD University. She is both an exhibiting artist and cultural historian whose research interests include the intersections between visual culture, popular music, fashion, cinema, and youth culture. Marlie has presented her work at numerous conferences and institutions, including the University of London. She also teaches with the Centre for Studies in Arts and Culture at Brock, and is a member of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music-Canada executive.

Kristin Patterson
Part-time instructor
Kristin received her Ph.D. in Contemporary Visual Culture at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, England. Her dissertation examined biography as a gendered discourse in the reception of women artists working from 1960-1980. Her current project explores the relationship between feminism and domesticity in contemporary performance and new media along with research interests in film, design, textiles and craft. Kristin has presented at several international conferences and is currently preparing a portion of her dissertation for publication.
