They absolutely crushed it.

About 400 Brock students and alumni came together to show why the University’s annual Homecoming Grape Stomp is one of the most-anticipated events on any Badgers’ bucket list.

Brock’s messiest tradition returned to Jubilee Court on Friday, Sept. 20, with participants diving into two metric tonnes — about 80 bushels — of Concord grapes.

White shirts were transformed to purple in a flash as fruit flew through the air and daring stompers slid through the resulting puree.

Part of both Brock’s Homecoming weekend and the University’s 60th anniversary celebrations, which kicked off this month, Grape Stomp has been called one of the best university traditions in Canada by University Affairs magazine.

While the spotlight was on the sticky fun, the day also included live music from Avenue Inn, featuring Brock alumni, and a free barbecue sponsored by Aramark.

Brock’s Homecoming and anniversary festivities continue this weekend with Friday’s Steel Blade Classic hockey game and Saturday’s Skyline Celebration.
