Brock basketball returns to Meridian Centre

MEDIA RELEASE: 6 November 2018 – R00197

The Brock Badgers are headed back downtown to renew their rivalry with the Ryerson Rams.

The women’s and men’s basketball teams will host a doubleheader at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines on Saturday, Nov. 17. The women’s game will tip off at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8 p.m.

“We’re continuing what has now become a fall tradition for our basketball teams and Brock Badgers fans,” said Director of Brock Sports, Neil Lumsden. “Playing in front of massive crowds in a big venue like the Meridian Centre creates experiences that our athletes will remember for the rest of their lives.”

Tickets for the doubleheader are now on sale on Ticketmaster online with prices set at $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and $8 for kids 12 and under. Limited courtside seats are available for $35. For every student ticket sold, $1 will be donated to the Brock University Students’ Union Food First Program, an on-campus food bank supporting undergraduate and graduate students.

The last time Brock hosted an event at the Meridian Centre was in September, when the Badgers played Guelph in the annual Steel Blade Classic hockey game. That event sold out nearly a week in advance.

“We’re proud that these games have turned into must-attend events for our students and fans, and we want to remind the community to get their tickets early,” said Lumsden.

Doors for the Nov. 17 games will open at 5 p.m. and the first 500 fans into the Meridian Centre will receive a free Brock Badgers T-shirt.
