Brock gives grads a career-boosting send-off

MEDIA RELEASE: 2 February 2018 – R00022

When Brock’s graduates head out on their quest for professional success, the University aims to give them the strongest send-off possible.

To help senior students prepare to enter the next chapter of their lives, the Brock University Alumni Association is hosting its Class of 2018 Grad Send-Off on Tuesday, Feb. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Ian Beddis Gymnasium. Hundreds of students will have the chance to get professional LinkedIn headshots taken, get tips on resume writing and meet with dozens of potential employers.

“This is a great opportunity for students to learn about the services that are available to them as a future Brock graduate, network with employers and celebrate the Class of 2018,” says Shelley Huxley, Director of Alumni Relations.

Grad Send-Off encourages senior students to explore available resources in place to help them find a career that suits their interest, experience and skills.

“I am looking forward to being around everyone who is graduating,” says fourth-year student Michael Beal. “This is a chance to recognize what we have all been through and to celebrate an ending, but also to explore a new beginning.”

Graduating students bring a “level of excitement to the event as they prepare to start their new life after graduation,” says Ashley Haroutunian, Career Consultant, Career Education.

Run by a volunteer group of Brock graduates, the Brock University Alumni Association represents the interests of all alumni and acts as advocates on their behalf, creating opportunities for alumni to stay engaged with the Brock community and recognizing the success of fellow Brock graduates.
