  • Tentative agreement with CUPE 4207-1 ratified

    Brock University and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 4207-1 (CUPE 4207-1) reached a tentative agreement for a renewal collective agreement on Jan. 22. On Feb. 12, the agreement was ratified by Brock’s Board of Trustees. CUPE 4207-1 advised the University that their members voted in favour of ratification on Jan. 30.

    CUPE 4207-1 represents instructors, teaching assistants, marker-graders, course co-ordinators and lab demonstrators. The three-year agreement is in effect from Sept. 7, 2025 to Sept. 6, 2028.

  • Tentative agreements reached with CUPE 4207-1 and CUPE 4207-5

    Brock University has reached two tentative agreements: one for a renewal collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4207-1 on Jan. 22, and the other for a first collective agreement with CUPE Local 4207-5 on Jan. 23.

    CUPE 4207-1 represents instructors, teaching assistants, marker-graders, course co-ordinators and lab demonstrators.

    CUPE 4207-5 represents instructors in the Faculty of Education.

    Details on both agreements will be released once ratified by the University’s Board of Trustees and the union.

  • Conciliation sought in negotiations with CUPE 4207-1

    Representatives from Brock University and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 4207 Unit 1, representing instructors, teaching assistants, marker-graders, course co-ordinators and lab demonstrators, have been actively bargaining for a renewal collective agreement, which expired on Sept. 6, 2025.

    The University applied to the Ontario Ministry of Labour and requested the appointment of a conciliation officer as discussions had reached an impasse.  A union or employer can apply to the Ontario Ministry of Labour for help in reaching an agreement.  A conciliation officer has been appointed, and the Parties will work to agree on one or more dates to continue discussions.

    The University remains committed to reaching a negotiated settlement that reflects the important and valued work members of the bargaining unit perform, while respecting the current financial and fiscal realities facing the University at this time.

    Further updates will be provided to the community as discussions continue.

  • Collective Agreement with CUPE 4207-1 ratified

    On December 15, 2022, the tentative agreement reached between Brock University and CUPE 4207-1 was ratified by Brock’s Board of Trustees. Previously CUPE 4207-1 members voted in favour of ratification on December 9.

    CUPE 4207-1 represents certain part time Instructors in addition to Teaching Assistants, Course Coordinators, Lab Demonstrators, and Marker/Graders. The 3-year collective agreement is in effect from Sept 7, 2022 to Sept 6, 2025.

  • Brock and CUPE 4207-1 reach tentative deal

    Representatives from Brock University and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 4207 Unit 1 reached a tentative agreement for a renewal collective agreement on Thurs Dec 1.

    Details of the tentative agreement will be released once it has been ratified by the parties.

    CUPE 4207-1 represents certain part time Instructors in addition to Teaching Assistants, Course Coordinators, Lab Demonstrators and Marker/Graders. The previous collective agreement expired on Sept 6, 2022.

    On Nov. 4, 2020 the tentative agreement reached between Brock University and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4207-1 (CUPE 4207-1) was ratified.

    CUPE 4207-1 represents Contract Instructors, Teaching Assistants, Course Coordinators, Marker-Graders and Lab Demonstrators at Brock University. The three-year agreement is in effect from Sept. 7, 2019 to Sept. 6, 2022.
