Update on negotiations with OSSTF

A tentative agreement has not yet been reached between Brock University and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) District 35, which represents office, clerical, administrative and library support staff.

Negotiations for a new collective agreement continue with the inclusion of a provincially-appointed mediator. The University remains hopeful that these talks will be successful and there will be no labour disruption on campus.

If an agreement is not reached, the union has informed the University of its intention to strike as of Thursday, Jan. 16 at 12:01 a.m.

In the event of a strike, Brock has contingency plans in place to ensure campus operations continue. In the event of a strike by OSSTF:

  • Campus will remain open and classes will continue as scheduled.
  • There will be delays entering campus, so plan accordingly.
  • Student services and campus facilities, including the Library, the Zone, the pool, and campus eateries, will remain open.
  • Research facilities will remain open.

More information on campus operations and services in the event of a strike by OSSTF is available on the Brock website.

Brock remains committed to reaching a fair and equitable contract with OSSTF District 35 that reflects the important and valued work members of the bargaining unit perform, while respecting the current financial realities facing the University and the broader public sector in Ontario.
