Conciliation sought in negotiations with CUPE Local 1295

Representatives from the University and CUPE Local 1295, which represents maintenance, trades and custodial staff at Brock, have been actively bargaining a renewal collective agreement.  The parties have been meeting regularly since the spring, and have made some progress towards reaching a tentative deal.

The existing collective agreement between the parties expired on April 30, 2022.

The Union has applied to the Ontario Ministry of Labour and has requested the appointment of a conciliation officer to assist the parties at this stage.  Conciliation is a normal part of the collective bargaining process in Ontario.  A union or employer can apply to the Ontario Ministry of Labour for help in reaching an agreement.

The University remains committed to reaching a negotiated settlement, and looks forward to continuing discussions with CUPE 1295.

Further updates will be provided to the community as discussions continue.
