New contact information is available for personal counselling and crisis supports offered through Brock’s Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre.Brock’s Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC) has updated its crisis and counselling service contact information.
The change comes as SWAC — which connects students with mental health supports, medical care and accessibility services — grows its wellness team and brings some services in-house.
Students seeking personal counselling can email [email protected] or call 905-688-5550 x5442.
Counselling appointments are available both in person at Brock and virtually, allowing students to choose the format that best meets their needs.
The University offers a range of counselling and psychotherapy services, depending on student needs and clinician assignment, and students will be connected with trained, caring, trauma-informed members of the expanded Brock wellness team who provide confidential support.
“Our students and staff consistently provide valuable feedback, and many prefer email as their first point of contact for counselling services,” said Kerri Nagy, Manager, Health and Clinical Operations. “Whether by email or phone, our team is here to ensure students can access support in a way that feels comfortable and accessible.”
Students in crisis and needing urgent support are encouraged to:
- Call 911 in the event of immediate risk.
- Call or text 988 to speak to someone immediately. The suicide crisis hotline is bilingual, trauma-informed, culturally respectful and available to anyone in Canada 24/7.
- Call the Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST), which is available 24/7 at 1-866-550-5205.
The previously used 1-833-BROCK33 number will also remain active for 24/7 crisis service until the end of September to ensure a smooth transition.
