Connecting students to campus career opportunities

As one of Hamilton-Niagara’s Top Employers, Brock University strives to attract exceptional talent not only from around the world, but also its student community.

Thanks to a new collaboration between Co-op, Career and Experiential Education (CCEE) and the Office of People and Culture (OPC), it’s easier than ever for students to find employment opportunities and explore professional pathways at Brock through CareerZone, the University’s student job board.

“Brock is a great place to study, and it’s also a great place to build, grow and develop a career,” says Associate Director, Career Education Melissa Beamer. “When students begin their job search, every Brock opportunity is now right at their fingertips.”

As well as CareerZone, managed by CCEE, the University also shares job postings through Workday, managed by OPC. All University employment opportunities are now visible through CareerZone, giving students a central hub to find job postings, co-op roles, experiential learning opportunities, co-curricular programs and more.

By aligning efforts, the two teams have developed a streamlined process that ensures all Brock employment openings appear on both platforms, boosting accessibility and visibility. The new process also strengthens engagement with hiring managers and supports a seamless hiring and onboarding process, increasing overall satisfaction for everyone involved.

“We want to ensure all jobs at Brock are widely promoted. Meaningful on-campus opportunities encourage personal growth and the development of transferrable skills,” says Stevey Hildebrand, Manager, Talent Acquisition and People Development. “As students embark on the next step of their career, we want to be top of mind. This collaboration shows our commitment to making Brock an exceptional place to work.”

Current employees looking for new Brock opportunities can visit Workday and log in with their employee credentials. Students looking for work experience and to start their careers can visit CareerZone and log in using their student credentials.

“We’re here to set students up for success and the partnership between CCEE and OPC helps us do just that,” says Beamer. “We want students to feel confident that when they visit CareerZone, they are seeing it all.”
