Wellness Week, which runs from Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6, features a variety of events focused on student well-being.Brock students will have extra opportunities next week to relax and recharge with a packed schedule of events designed to support their well-being.
Hosted by the Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC), Brock University Library, Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) and Graduate Students’ Association (GSA), Wellness Week will run from Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6.
As well as partnering with the GSA and BUSU on several events, SWAC is hosting a Build Your Own Coping Skills Toolbox workshop to help undergraduate students develop skills to cope with stress. The workshop takes place Monday, March 2 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Wellness Hub.
The Brock Library is hosting a session on social media literacy offering strategies for mindfully engaging with social media tools in the age of influencers and artificial intelligence. The event takes place online on Monday, March 2 from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
Students interested in relaxing with a craft can create a collage bookmark or wearable pin-back button during the Library’s drop-in Paper Crafternoon event, which takes place Tuesday, March 3 from 1:30 to 2:30. All materials will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own photos and scrapbooking items.
Graduate students can destress with several events hosted by the GSA, including:
- An all-levels Pilates session hosted by the GSA on Monday, March 2 from noon to 1 p.m. in Pond Inlet. Limited spots are available and registration is required. Visit ExperienceBU to RSVP and find additional information for attendees.
- A drop-in therapy dog and succulent planting event on Tuesday, March 3 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Pond Inlet.
- A wellness bag giveaway in MCC 302 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 5. Bags will be available while supplies last.
- A drop-in art session in MCC 300 on Thursday, March 5 from 1 to 3 p.m.
- A DIY tote bag drop-in event in Pond Inlet on Friday, March 6 from noon to 3 p.m.
BUSU has planned several opportunities for undergraduate students to relax throughout the week, including:
- A drop-in puppy social on Tuesday, March 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Kenmore Centre’s lounge.
- A free grab-and-go breakfast booth in Union Station from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3. Students will also be able to stock up on pantry items while supplies last.
- A Comic Con featuring a cosplay costume competition, Artist Alley, trivia and giveaways on Wednesday, March 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Residence 8 Atrium.
- A Pilates and Matcha event on Thursday, March 5 in the Fitness Studio at 1:10 p.m. (women’s only session) and 2:10 p.m. Spots are limited and registration is required.
