Brock University’s Information Technology Services team is advising students, faculty and staff to be wary of fake parking messages.

Fraudulent text messages have been received claiming to be from Brock University Parking Services. These messages may include fake claim numbers to make them appear authentic and use urgent language to manipulate recipients into clicking malicious links or sharing their information.

Anyone who has received a message can contact Parking Services through official channels to confirm its legitimacy.

Brock University does not send unsolicited text messages or emails asking for personal information or account details.

The Brock ITS team advises users to take the following steps when they receive a suspicious text message or email:

  • Do not reply to the message.
  • Do not click on any links in any suspicious or unsolicited messages.
  • Do not call any phone numbers listed in the message.
  • Delete the message immediately.
  • Contact the supposed sender through a trusted method to verify the message.
  • Double-check URLs before clicking on search results by hovering over links to confirm they are legitimate.

Members of the Brock community can also reach out to ITS with questions or forward suspicious messages to [email protected] for the IT Security team to investigate. Anyone who believes they are the victim of a scam can also contact Campus Safety Services for assistance.
