The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, Dec. 8 and Friday, Dec. 12.

Master of Science in Physics thesis defence

Nima Jafarnia, a Master of Science candidate in the Department of Physics, will defend the thesis titled “Experimental and Numerical Investigation of the Mechanical Properties of Novel Bamboo-Timber and Bamboo Composites for Sustainable Construction” on Monday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. in PLZ 601C.

Master of Science in Biological Sciences thesis defence

Autumn Lif, a Master of Science candidate in the Department of Biological Sciences, will defend the thesis titled “Investigating the effects of aging and the neuromodulator retinoic acid on neurite outgrowth in a novel CNS organ culture” on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 9:30 a.m. in PLZ 600F.

Master of Arts in Applied Disability Studies thesis defence 

Leutrime Lahu, a Master of Arts in Applied Disability Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “An Evaluation of a Peer-Yoked Contingency Game Board on the Frequency of Initiating Conversational Units in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder”on Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 3 to 5 p.m. in virtual format.

Master of Arts in Applied Disabilities Studies thesis defence  

Thuy Linh Dang, a Master of Arts in Applied Disabilities Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “Between Survival and Thriving: Agency of Global South Disabled Women in Canadian Higher Education” on Friday, Dec. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. in TH 150.

Master of ​Arts in Applied Health Sciences (Nursing) thesis defence

Carlyna Ansah, a Master of Arts in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Leveraging the use of Telemedicine by Healthcare Providers in the Care of People Chronic Kidney Disease” on Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. in EA 308.

Master of ​Arts in Applied Health Sciences (Recreation, Sport and Community) thesis defence

Jenny Wubs, a Master of Arts in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Too Special for me”: The Meaning and Experience of Accessing Leisure for Midlife Women Experiencing Poverty in Central St. Catharines” on Thursday, Dec. 11 from noon to 3 p.m. in STH 361.

Master of ​Science in Applied Health Sciences (Health Sciences) thesis defence

Matthew Terzo, a Master of Science in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Examining the Effects of Carnosic Acid on Skeletal Muscle Cellular Respiration and Non-Shivering Thermogenesis” on Friday, Dec. 12 from noon to 3 p.m. in STH 361.
