What you need to know for Fall Convocation

The stage is nearly set for about 1,000 Badgers to take the step from student to graduate during Brock University’s 118th Convocation on Friday, Oct. 17.

The one-day celebration, which includes ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., takes place in the Ian Beddis Gymnasium.

Both ceremonies will be livestreamed at brocku.ca/livestream

Information for guests

Tickets will not be required to attend, but there is a two-guest limit per graduand. All guests will be required to check in prior to entering the ceremony and are encouraged to have the name and student identification number of the graduand they’re celebrating present at check-in. All graduates and guests are asked to enter through the main doors of the Walker Complex.

Convocation guests and participants are reminded that signs, flags, large bags and other large items are not permitted at the ceremonies.

Post-Convocation celebrations

Immediately following each convocation ceremony, Brock’s Alumni Relations office welcomes all new graduates to the Rankin Family Pavilion to enjoy some light refreshments, take photos and learn about the perks of being Brock alumni.

Master’s and PhD graduates and their guests are also invited to visit the GRAD² Celebration Area on the upper level of the Rankin Family Pavilion after the morning and afternoon ceremonies for sweet treats, swag bags and photo opportunities.

All Class of 2025 graduates are encouraged to update their contact information with Brock University Alumni Relations.

Online celebration toolkit

Brock graduands have the chance to mark this milestone moment in their lives using the University’s online celebration toolkit, which includes Convocation-themed cover photos, wallpapers, Instagram filters and Giphy stickers to help grads share their accomplishments on social media.

The toolkit also includes a map of the University’s photo trail, which highlights some of the most iconic and scenic spots on campus, such as the Maj.-Gen. Sir Isaac Brock statue, Pond Inlet and Alumni Field. Grads are encouraged to share their photos on social media with the hashtag #BrockUGrad so the University can celebrate with them.

Campus Store

The Brock Campus Store will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, with an additional pop-up store in the Walker Sports Complex offering a variety of University gifts and gear as well as degree frames from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Complimentary diploma framing is available with the purchase of a degree frame, with the option to preorder online or on site at the Campus Store pop-up.

Complimentary parking will be available for Fall Convocation graduands and guests. Please follow the directional signage to Lots D and B. If these lots are full, overflow parking will be available in Lots 1 and 3. Accessible parking is also available in Lot P. Carpooling and ride sharing are encouraged.
