Brock University’s Wellness Week, which runs from Monday, Nov. 4 to Friday, Nov. 7, features a variety of student events focused on health and wellness.From crafting sessions to puppy socials, Brock students will have a range of opportunities to relax and recharge next week as they prepare for end-of-term exams and assignments.
Wellness Week — which takes place from Monday, Nov. 3 to Friday, Nov. 7 — features a variety of events designed to support students’ social, mental and physical well-being.
The Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC) will be offering several events for undergraduate and graduate students:
- A drop-in colouring session from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3 in the Wellness HUB.
- A build-your-own overnight oats station available in the Wellness HUB from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
- A drop-in “tea and talk” time from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6 in the Wellness HUB.
- A feel-good TV marathon from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Wellness HUB on Friday, Nov. 7.
The Brock Library is hosting two Wellness Week events on Tuesday, Nov. 4 in RFP 214/15: an aroma flow yoga session from 11 to 11:30 a.m. and a drop-in paper crafting workshop from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Both events are open to all students. Additional wellness resources are available on the Brock Library website.
The Night Against Procrastination on Thursday, Nov. 6 will also feature several wellness activities, including chair yoga, as well as one-on-one support to help students make progress towards their academic goals.
For undergraduate students, the Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) and its partners across campus are offering a variety of fun and relaxing events throughout the week, including:
- A drop-in puppy social on Tuesday, Nov. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Kenmore Centre lounge.
- A trivia night on Tuesday, Nov. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Residence 8.
- Pottery painting sessions at 4 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5 in Residence 8
- BrockTV’s Render This Film Festival at The Film House, located in the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre, from 7 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Brock students can register for free tickets, which include free snacks and drinks, on the BUSU website.
- A Disney-themed karaoke night from 7 to 11 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6.
BUSU is offering undergraduate students who attend Wellness Week events a chance to win a $200 Lululemon gift card and a pair of Toronto Maple Leaf tickets to the Sunday, Nov. 9 game. Visit the BUSU website for event registration details and wellness resources.
The Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) and its campus partners have planned a range of free wellness activities for Brock’s master’s and PhD students, including:
- A gentle yoga session at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3 in the Brock Dance Studio.
- Drop-in therapy dog visits from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4 in Pond Inlet.
- A drop-in coffee and chat session with Heidi Madden, Graduate Academic and International Specialist, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5 in MCC 300.
- A wellness bag giveaway from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., or while supplies last, on Thursday, Nov. 6 in MCC 302.
- A drop-in art therapy session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6 in MCC 300.
- A pottery painting session at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7 in Pond Inlet. While this event is currently full, graduate students are encouraged to join the wait-list.
