Thesis defences — Sept. 29 to Oct. 3

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, Sept. 29 and Friday, Oct. 3.

Master of Science in Applied Health Sciences (Health Sciences) thesis defence

Evelin Melekh, a Master of Science in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Characterizing brain and bone outcomes in an aging novel humanized mouse model of sporadic Alzheimer’s disease” on Wednesday, Oct. 1 from noon to 3 p.m. in STH 361.

Master of Arts in Applied Health Sciences (Sport Management) thesis defence

Duncan Payne, a Master of ​Arts in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Sport Policy in Newfoundland and Labrador: A Case Study” on Wednesday, Oct. 1 from 9 a.m to noon in STH 361.

The examination committee includes Craig Hyatt, Chair; Kyle Rich, Supervisor; Joshua Barrett, External Examiner (Memorial University of Newfoundland); and Johnahon Edwards and Mike VanBussel, Committee Members.

Master of Arts in Applied Disability Studies thesis defence 

Kendra Nadine White, a Master of Arts in Applied Disability Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “A Comparison of Hero-Identified and Hero-Unidentified Dependent Group Contingencies to Increase Children’s Physical Activity During Recess” on Monday, Sept. 29 from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. in TH 150.

Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies thesis defence    

Sydney Faith Running, a Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “Who Dates Who? Using Latent Profiles to Characterize Adolescent’s Mate Value” on Wednesday, Oct. 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. in WH 147.
