Brock International student ambassadors will support these opportunities through peer mentorship, campus events and cultural programming.
The 2025-26 team brings together four standout returning ambassadors and five new members eager to build connections within the Brock community.
For fourth-year Biomedical Sciences student Irene Charley, returning to the ambassador role was an easy decision.
“Being an ambassador has been one of the most meaningful parts of my time at Brock,” she said. “I had such a great time being part of the Lunar New Year celebration, where so many students came together to share culture, food and traditions. That sense of belonging is what I want to continue creating.”
Born and raised in United Arab Emirates, Charley’s advice to international students is to stay curious and take advantage of opportunities on campus.
“Ask questions, join clubs, attend events, make friends and enjoy your time,” she said.
Charley is one of four returning ambassadors who made a strong impact during the past year. The returning team also includes fourth-year Medical Sciences students Ray Lin and Daniel Oguejiofor and second-year Data Science and Financial Analytics student Andri Hudlin.
For Hudlin, who is returning for a second year, the program represents both leadership and belonging.
“Your time at Brock is what you make it, so why not make it the best experience you can?” she said.
Among the new team members bringing fresh energy and perspectives to the group is Malik Abdullah, a third-year Accounting co-op student who is excited to begin his journey as an ambassador.
“I wanted to be an ambassador because I want every international student to know they belong here,” Abdullah said. “My advice is simple. Make connections and get involved. It truly shapes your experience at Brock.”
Other new members of the team include Rumman Rafiq, a third-year Business Administration student with a passion for student leadership; Jay Shah, a third-year Computer Science student active in the Computer Science Society; Louis Tieu, a second-year MBA student specializing in Accounting; and incoming first-year Medical Sciences student Nethra Balaji, who is beginning her Brock journey with a commitment to service and community.
Together, the nine ambassadors will take on responsibilities that include welcoming new students, assisting with campus events and helping to highlight cultural traditions from around the world.
“We’re proud to have such a diverse and passionate group of ambassadors this year,” said Carolyn Villella, International Student Life Specialist. “Their experiences and leadership will enrich the campus community and support Brock’s commitment to internationalization.”
